CNC Cutting
We are equipped with both 3-axis and 5-axis CNC cutting machines.
3-axis cutting is used for flat products, such as trimming tray edges, where high precision is not required.
5-axis cutting is used for complex products with strict precision tolerance requirements.
We adjust our cutting process according to customers' tolerance needs and strive to maintain precise control within the required range.

The step-by-step vacuum forming process works as follows
 
01/

Clamp: A sheet of plastic is placed in an open frame and clamped into place.

02/

Heat: The plastic sheet is softened using a heat source until it reaches the appropriate forming temperature and becomes pliable.

03/

Vacuum: The framework containing the heated, pliable sheet of plastic is lowered over a mold and pulled into place via a vacuum on the other side of the mold. Female (or convex) molds need to have tiny holes drilled into crevices so that the vacuum can effectively pull the thermoplastic sheet into the appropriate form.

04/

Cool: Once the plastic has been formed around/into the mold, it needs to cool. For larger pieces, fans and/or cool mist are sometimes used to speed up this step in the production cycle.

05/

Release: After the plastic has cooled, it can be removed from the mold and released from the framework.

06/

Trim: The completed part will need to be cut out of the excess material, and edges may need to be trimmed, sanded, or smoothed.

 

The entire process has six steps
 

Create a Mold and Tooling: A mold is designed and fabricated along with secondary fixturing to support the thermoforming process.

 

Heat the Flat Sheet of Plastic: A flat sheet of resin is clamped into a frame, rotated into a heating chamber and heated to a pre-determined optimal temperature (Figure 1-Top).

 

Drape the Hot Sheet of Plastic Over or Into a Mold: The pliable, heated sheet of plastic is then either draped into a female mold or over a male mold, and tiny vacuum lines in the mold draw out the air between the plastic and the mold, while normal atmospheric pressure pushes the softened plastic against the mold.

 

Remove the Formed Sheet of Plastic from the Mold: Once the sheet of plastic has taken on the shape of the mold, it is cooled and withdrawn from the mold, then removed from the clamp frame.

 

Trim the Part: There is often excess material around the edges of the part, and that material is routed or trimmed off. If any additional machined features are called for, they are trimmed out.

 

Finish the Part: The part may be painted, screen printed or hot-stamped, and assembly—such as the attachment of hardware, subassemblies, cabling or wiring, electrical or electronic components, or other parts—may be performed.
